Where do thoughts, feelings and ideas come from?
A few weeks ago after Mac my new horse and I had been for a walk I was taking him back to the field he now lives in and I suddenly found myself feeling really really thirsty. I then became aware that since moving Mac to this field I hadn’t personally checked out where the water trough was, so I decided to walk the hedge lines and get to know the land and paddock that he is now living in and find the water trough.
As I wandered about Mac followed me in my exploration, and eventually I found the trough tucked in one of the top corners.
Mac stood some way back and watched me as I went ahead for a closer look. I pulled a few leaves out, which caused the trough to make that familiar hissing sound as it re filled with water. At this moment Mac spooked backwards, snorting and eyes on stalks, but also at the same time looking like he really wanted to come forwards and investigate.
At this point I took some water in my hands and offered it to him, which he sniffed and then loved a game that we then created where by I would tip the water into his lower lip and he would slurp it up. He was enjoying the interaction, but every time I collected some more water he would spook backwards at the sound of the trough. Then I suddenly realised that I actually wasn’t thirsty at all, but he was!
We played this game for a while and then eventually he became brave enough to try drinking from the trough. There were several times of taking a slurp and shooting backwards as it refilled, until eventually, with me stood beside him he stayed and quenched his thirst in a more relaxed way.
After this little scenario I realised that maybe it was him actually letting me know that he was feeling thirsty as we had entered the paddock earlier and I started to ponder all the other times things like this might be happening.
There was a time when I was travelling in the car with a friend on a really hot day and I had the thought ‘oh I’d really love an ice cream’ and then a few seconds later my friend turned to me and said ‘shall we stop for an ice cream?’ I’ve often wondered about this interaction and who had felt the desire for an ice cream first, or was it that the idea of an ice cream landed in our close reality and came through simultaneously?
Other examples of things like this are when people working totally independently on opposite sides of the world have scientific breakthroughs simultaneously and its only in hindsight that we see the idea came into being through two different people.
A bit of food for thought about the energetics of our reality, ideas and feeling. I kind of imagine it like all the possibilities are there, moving around in the energetics of life that we can’t ‘see’ but sometimes we can feel if we are open and present in thw moment. By learning to open to this energy and becoming more conscious of it we can increase our understanding of it and open ourselves up to more interconnected ways of being and living.
I’d love to hear any of your stories around these ponderings and ideas……….
